The number of Christmas markets in Britain is growing.

Last year there were 370 but that is expected to increase to more than 500 this year, according to the Christmas Retail Consortium.

The market size can be as much as 25 square miles (64 square kilometres), says the RAC Foundation.

“Traditional markets draw in millions of visitors every year,” the RAC says.

“Among festive markets that reach more and more people every year, the Christmas market at the Paddington Station Christmas tree in west London in December remains a really popular draw.”
