Uncle Terrell brings Hogan touchdown record to new age

Hogan placed his first wager at the Pinnacle Casino in Maryland late Monday. He placed a bet on a Washington Football Club match against the New York Red Bulls on behalf of his son.

Sports Wagering continues its takeoff in the United States with the first legal wager in Maryland. Former Maryland Governor Robert E. “Bobby” Mitchell’s one-handed touchdown catch has long been celebrated by football fans as one of the greatest plays in Maryland history.

But, from now on, his son, Justin Mitchell, will own the star.

Mitchell placed his first wager at the Pinnacle Casino in Prince George’s County late Monday, and he took a chance on a Washington Football Club match against the New York Red Bulls. He placed a bet on a Washington Football Club match against the New York Red Bulls on behalf of his son.

The game did not go well for the elder Mitchell, who only bet on the Reds.

Mitchell said his son laughed at him when he signed the winning bet slip.

“He laughed and said, ‘Dad, get me some gum,'” the younger Mitchell said.

The bet on the Washington Football Club was the first wager on legal sports wagering since Maryland voters approved a constitutional amendment to allow sports betting in the state in 2016.

Mitchell’s bet was the first legal sports wager in Maryland, but it used his previous name for the Washington Football Club, rather than his real name.
